Oswego Hospital’s Prenatal Care Assistance Program, or PCAP, offers complete pregnancy care and other healthcare services to women and teens, that meet certain income requirements.
Among those services are routine pregnancy medical check-ups and lab work, hospital care during pregnancy and delivery, and assistance in applying for other program such as Women, Infant and Children (WIC). The program will provide weekly childbirth education classes at the Oswego Hospital.
PCAP provides free childbirth education classes on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 in Oswego Hospital’s lower level conference room. A registered nurse teaches the classes. Program participants can also enroll in Oswego Hospital’s breast feeding classes held the first Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Additional benefits include healthcare for the baby’s mother for 60 days, after delivery and healthcare for the newborn baby for at least one year, as well as family planning services.
Much of the program centers on counseling the mothers on issues such as nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
