Hospitalist Program

Oswego Hospital recently launched a hospitalist program to care for hospital inpatients who do not have a primary care physician, or whose primary care physician does not provide patient care in the hospital.

Our hospitalists are physicians who specialize in managing the care of patients while they are in the hospital. If your physician chooses to use the service, the hospitalist will, orders tests and procedures, coordinate consultations, and personally provides you with a consistently high level of care throughout the hospital stay.

If you are admitted to Oswego Hospital, either by referral from your primary care physician, or through the emergency department, the hospitalists will coordinate your plan of care and keep your family, if you wish, informed on details of your hospital stay. At discharge, the hospitalist will communicate with your doctor and discuss your additional treatment needs, as well as to help arrange follow up care. The hospitalist will also send your hospital records to your primary care physician.

An Oswego Hospital’s hospitalists is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Complementing the care are nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The hospitalists at Oswego Hospital are either board-certified as internists or family medicine.
